The Safety Challenge
Engineering workshops carry a substantial fire load. The combination of flammable lubricants, high-tension electrical areas, and industrial gas usage creates a volatile environment. The challenge was to design a system that could operate reliably amidst the vibration and dust typical of heavy engineering works while providing high-flow suppression capabilities.
Engineering Scope
- Hydraulic Infrastructure: Installation of a high-flow Fire Hydrant and Hosereel system, specifically engineered to meet the hydraulic demands of an industrial footprint in Galle.
- Hazard-Specific Suppression: Distribution of fire extinguishers categorized by hazard class (NFPA 10) to address specific electrical and chemical risks.
- Industrial Utilities: Integration of a large-scale industrial LP Gas system featuring reinforced safety controls and mechanical frame integration.
Handover & Verification
Operational readiness inspections emphasized the seamless communication between industrial-grade sensors and the central monitoring station. Following CIDA EM1 certification, an ongoing maintenance framework was established to ensure system longevity within a demanding industrial environment. This industrial safety rigor is directly applicable to the unique challenges and high fuel loads found in the apparel manufacturing sector.
